  • ELEVATOR PITCH | XXV EDITION

On Tuesday 8th March, we held the XXV edition of our Elevator Pitch networking event. This edition took place at Arbina Restaurant, member of the Spanish Chamber. The restaurant is located in the area of Fitzrovia and offers the traditional Mediterranean cuisine in the heart of London.

Everything was ready for the event at the private room downstairs, which fitted perfectly with the characteristics of this event, where Mr. Javier López de Arbina, welcomed everyone on behalf of Arbina.

The event was chaired by María Prieto, our Events & Communication Co-ordinator and Cristina Carmona, Head of Corporate Relations and Communication, who explained the dynamics of this activity to the participants, whose main purpose is to provide participants with the possibility to expand their network and to explore further avenues of collaboration with the rest of participants.

After the brief presentation, each attendee had 2 minutes to give a concise and concrete introduction about their company’s main line of activity and services they provided. Having done so, there was a second opportunity for each participant to ask questions to the rest of participants.

The reduced format allows participants to introduce their line of business.

Should you be interested in participating in the next edition of this networking event, there are just a couple of things you need to know regarding this format: Usually there are up to 16 participant companies, and only one representative per company is allowed. However, it is possible to have up to two companies from the same business sector. Therefore, attendees are able to meet a wide variety of companies from different sectors and exchange their business cards.

On this occasion, there was a wide variety of sectors represented among the 11 companies that took part in this edition: Cooking your Spanish (Cookery and Spanish lessons), E-Lixir Consulting (Digital Communication), Harwood Hutton (Accounting and Auditing Services), Hispalis Group (Construction), Lloyds Bank (Banking and Financial Services), Melia White House (Hotel), Sargadelos Porcelain UK (Fine Porcelain), Scornik Gerstein (Legal Services), The Bentley London (Hotel), and The Client Academy (Business Consultancy Services).

Attendees had the chance to get to know each other after their presentations.

After the round of questions, everyone had the opportunity to chat and continue networking over a delicious breakfast with some of the most iconic products of Spanish cuisine that the venue serves.

Thank you to all the professionals who have been part of the last edition of the Elevator Pitch and our gratitude to Arbina Restaurant for kindly hosting the event and welcoming us.

  • Afternoon Tea with an Expert

On Monday 19th October the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain organised an exclusive afternoon tea in collaboration with  The Bentley London Hotela member of the Spanish Chamber. Ms. Raquel Lozano, Director of Sales & Marketing at the hotel, was our exceptional host for the event which was led by Mr. Richard Birtchnell, Toastmaster and Past President of the prestigious Society of London Toastmasters. The event took place in the 1880 Room, a private space which favoured the relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere guests experienced throughout the evening.

Sandwiches, cakes and of course the king of the party: tea. Everything was ready for a perfect evening.

Ms. Raquel Lozano welcomed attendees to the hotel on this special occasion before giving the floor to Mr. Richard Birtchnell. He provided the attendees with an overview about the afternoon tea tradition, which began in Victorian times to relieve the hunger between lunch and dinner.

Once the tea had been served, it was time for Mr. Birtchnell to talk about the different kinds of food that are usually eaten during the typical afternoon tea and explained in which order each should be eaten. On this occasion, attendees could enjoy a variety of cold sandwiches – ranging from the classics smoked salmon or cucumber to a more modern coronation chicken- , traditional scones served with jam and clotted cream and a wide range of pastries and cakes.

Mr. Richard Birtchnell, Past President of the Society of Toast Masters, led guests through the do's and dont's of the tradition of the afternoon tea.

Having discussed the tradition of afternoon tea, and with guests savouring the many treats in front of them, Mr. Birtchnell moved on to the next topic in the agenda: etiquette and protocol. Using his vast experience working with royalty, government, high-profile guests and institutional representatives, he offered an overview of how protocol works in practical terms and shared a few anecdotes with guests before concluding.

After this, attendees had time to mingle over tea and pastries and they enjoyed a guided tour led by our host Ms. Raquel Lozano around the hotel premises.

Attendees enjoyed a classic afternoon tea at the luxurious Bently London hotel.
The 1880 room, where the event took place, did not fail to impress our attendees.

We would very much like to thank all participants for joining us on this occasion. We are also sincerely grateful to Ms. Raquel Lozano and The Bentley London Hotel for kindly hosting this exclusive event and to Mr. Richard Birtchnell for making this activity a memorable evening for all attendees.

Do not forget to keep an eye on our UPCOMING EVENTS section to learn more about future activities and events of the Spanish Chamber.
