Mr. Oliu shared with attendees his feelings of gratitude for receiving such an important recognition to the extraordinary work of Sabadell Group and its international strategy over the last decade, which has been marked by the takeover of TSB, the UK retail bank carved out of Lloyds Banking Group.

He informed attendees that the immediate future of TBS will now focus on the migration of their technological platform to provide a better user experience and increase customer interaction with the bank.  In fact, he explained that results at the end of 2016 showed a 52% increase in sales through digital channels, which highlights the importance of digital transformation within traditional financial institutions in order to remain competitive against new players.

In his words, this award represents the significant efforts to transform Banco Sabadell from a regional niche operator into one of the biggest banks in Spain, and then into a global financial institution.

The event was attended by nearly 250 guests, representing member companies from both Spain and the UK. On this special occasion guests had the opportunity to extend their network and interact with professionals from the Anglo-Spanish business community in the impressive setting provided by the premises of the Embassy.

We take this opportunity to thank our kind sponsors on this special occasion. We are grateful to our member Brindisa for kindly providing an iberico ham and selection of cheeses and to our Patron Mahou-San Miguel for sponsoring the Alhambra beers that guests enjoyed at the event.
