  • FEDECOM AWARDS NH HOTEL GROUP THE 2015 COMPANY OF THE YEAR PRIZE

    FEDECOM, the association that represents our Chamber of Commerce, awarded on Monday 15th June its 2015 Company of the Year prize to NH Hotel Group. The award ceremony took place in Milan taking advantage of the visit of Mr. Mariano Rajoy, President of Spain, to the Universal Exhibition on occasion of Spain Day.

    FEDECOM is the association that represents Spain’s twelve Official Chambers of Commerce, located in Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania, whose mandate is to monitor reverberation of EU initiatives with a direct impact on the world of business and support economic and trade development overseas.

    NH Hotel Group is a multinational player with 400 hotels and 60,000 rooms in 29 markets across Europe, the Americas and Africa. FEDECOM has chosen to recognize and reward the Spanish hotel brand  for its efforts to expand abroad and its commitment to excellence in service.

    In reference to the awarded company Juan Rodríguez-Villa, President of FEDECOM, said that “when we live abroad or have to travel overseas frequently, we are proud to discover NH Hotel Group’s brands dotting the landscape in so many of the world’s cities, featured on the façades of emblematic buildings and in the best downtown districts. And if we avail of the facilities on offer at NH’s hotels, here, there and everywhere, we discover the quality of their services, a succulent nod to Spanish cuisine and decorative touches that remind us of home”.

    Federico J. González Tejera, CEO of NH Hotel Group, meanwhile said that “this acknowledgement from such a prestigious organism with presence in all our destination cities around the world, one that works so hard and passionately to nurture business and trade relations overseas, is truly an honour for all of us here at the Group. Moreover, it encourages us to continue to grow and transform the Company in order to offer memorable experiences and make NH Hotel Group the chain that comes to mind whenever anyone contemplates a trip, whether for business or pleasure”.

    The Chairman and CEO of NH Hotel Group, Rodrigo Echenique and Federico J. González Tejera, received the award in the Spanish Pavilion of the Milan Universal Expo from Spain’s President, Mariano Rajoy. The ceremony was also attended by José Luis Bonet, President of Spain’s Chamber of Commerce as well as by several representatives of the institutions that FEDECOM encompasses, such as our President Mr. Javier Fernández Hidalgo.

  • A New Agreement Between the Chamber and SMEs in Alicante

    We are pleased to announce that this past Wednesday, 7th of November 2012, a new partnership was affirmed within the London premises of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain.

    It has taken effect between the Chamber – under the direction of the new President, Javier Fernández Hidalgo – and the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Businesses of Alicante, CEPYME, under the direction of Cristóbal Navarro (also acting as the representative for the Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Maritime Trade of Alicante).

    The significance of this agreement, already held with various local Chambers of Commerce and Confederations of Business Industries, is to promote the network of the SMEs contained within these entities that have begun their journey of associating with the UK market, or those that are about to. To this end, this agreement is aimed at facilitating the effectiveness these types of businesses in providing them access to one of the main trade promotion services of the Chamber; scouting for suitable potential commercial clients in Britain, in conjunction with a feasibility study, as a way of advancing that company’s outreach to the UK market.

    The principal beneficiaries of this agreement are undoubtedly SMEs, which have been operating within an unfavourable economic climate in recent years, insofar as it enables them to promote their products and services in the UK whilst enjoying a 40% discount on the normal price of initiating a Commercial Agenda of this type with the Chamber. In this way, various Chambers and Confederations which affiliate with the Chamber through this agreement can thus provide a value-assured outreach service to the companies which they represent that are looking to expand into the United Kingdom.

    The Chamber has been instigating these types of agreements since the year 2010. Amongst the numerous institutions which continue to benefit from this initiative, we can name the Chamber’s of Commerce for León, Lleida, Girona, Sabadell, A Coruña, and now Alicante. This also includes the Confederations of Business Industries of the Province of Badajoz (COEBA), Albacete (FEDA), and now the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Businesses of Alicante (CEPYME).
