  • MAHOU SUMMER PARTY

On Wednesday 5th July, we had the pleasure of celebrating our second “Mahou Informal Party” of the year, which was organised in collaboration with Mahou – San Miguel, Patron of the Chamber. The event took place at Dry Martini, the cocktail bar at the Meliá White House, which provided the perfect venue for the evening.

This event was our Summer Party, which was the perfect occasion to say goodbye to our members until the end of the summer. The party was also a great event to enjoy a cold craft beer and learn more about the Spanish brewer company.  Attendees also had the chance of enjoying the taste of the delicious selection of bites.

The Summer Party was the second one of a series of amazing parties in collaboration with Mahou- San Miguel, a Spanish family business with 125 years of history and international presence in over 70 countries, with United Kingdom being one of its main markets, where the company has had presence for more than 25 years.

If you have missed this “Mahou Party”, you can still take part in the next one which will be announced shortly. If you want to have a look at how the evening went, click here for the pictures of the event.

  • ELEVATOR PITCH XXX EDITION

On Wednesday 10th May, we held the  XXX edition of our Elevator Pitch networking event. On this occasion, the event took place at the premises of Mishcon de Reya, member of the Spanish Chamber, who kindly hosted our guests.

Our Secretary General, Igor Urra, chaired the event and explained the rules to the attendees.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Elevator Pitch format, here are the basic rules to bear in mind:

-Only one participant per company is allowed and there is a maximum of 16 companies taking part in each edition.

-Up to two companies from the same sector can register for the event.

-Each attendee has two minutes to explain the line of business and scope of the company he represents to the rest of participants.

The reduced number of participants and the format makes this activity a highly interactive one, which aims at providing attendees with the opportunity to explore synergies and avenues of collaboration among them.

After the round of introductions is over, each participant has an additional two-minute slot to reply to questions made by any of the other attendees. Once the question round is finished, participants can further network without the previous time restraints.

On this occasion, a wide variety of sectors were represented among the 11 companies that were in attendance at this edition: Mishcon de Reya (Legal Services), Barclays (Banking and Financial Services), Elastacloud Limited (Communications, IT and Networks), Global Reach Partners (Foreign Exchange), Melia White House (Hotel and Accommodation), The Mandeville Hotel (Hotel and Accommodation), BIID (Communications, IT and Networks), CDK Developments (Toys Manufacturer), Depinna Notaries (Notarial Services), IntelliQ (Business Consultancy Services) and Rochester PR Group (Public Relations).

We would very much like to thank all attendees who took part in this edition of the Elevator Pitch for having joined us. Special thanks to Mishcon de Reya for kindly hosting this activity.

If you have not joined us yet for any of our Elevator Pitch events, keep an eye on our weekly newsletter as you will have a new chance to participate in the upcoming editions.

  • ELEVATOR PITCH | XXV EDITION

On Tuesday 8th March, we held the XXV edition of our Elevator Pitch networking event. This edition took place at Arbina Restaurant, member of the Spanish Chamber. The restaurant is located in the area of Fitzrovia and offers the traditional Mediterranean cuisine in the heart of London.

Everything was ready for the event at the private room downstairs, which fitted perfectly with the characteristics of this event, where Mr. Javier López de Arbina, welcomed everyone on behalf of Arbina.

The event was chaired by María Prieto, our Events & Communication Co-ordinator and Cristina Carmona, Head of Corporate Relations and Communication, who explained the dynamics of this activity to the participants, whose main purpose is to provide participants with the possibility to expand their network and to explore further avenues of collaboration with the rest of participants.

After the brief presentation, each attendee had 2 minutes to give a concise and concrete introduction about their company’s main line of activity and services they provided. Having done so, there was a second opportunity for each participant to ask questions to the rest of participants.

The reduced format allows participants to introduce their line of business.

Should you be interested in participating in the next edition of this networking event, there are just a couple of things you need to know regarding this format: Usually there are up to 16 participant companies, and only one representative per company is allowed. However, it is possible to have up to two companies from the same business sector. Therefore, attendees are able to meet a wide variety of companies from different sectors and exchange their business cards.

On this occasion, there was a wide variety of sectors represented among the 11 companies that took part in this edition: Cooking your Spanish (Cookery and Spanish lessons), E-Lixir Consulting (Digital Communication), Harwood Hutton (Accounting and Auditing Services), Hispalis Group (Construction), Lloyds Bank (Banking and Financial Services), Melia White House (Hotel), Sargadelos Porcelain UK (Fine Porcelain), Scornik Gerstein (Legal Services), The Bentley London (Hotel), and The Client Academy (Business Consultancy Services).

Thank you to all the professionals who have been part of the last edition of the Elevator Pitch and our gratitude to Arbina Restaurant for kindly hosting the event and welcoming us.

The Informal Christmas Party is one of our most popular events as it officially closes our activities for the year. On this occasion, nearly 200 guests joined us to catch up with fellow members before the end of the year. The venue certainly contributed to create a relaxing but engaging atmosphere and set the right mood for attendees, who took the opportunity talk about their plans for Christmas while enjoying a drink.

For those of you not familiar with the venue, the Dry Martini London bar’s dedicated martini counter offers a choice of 80 gins and numerous bitters allowing guests to craft their martini of choice. In continuation of a tradition started at its Barcelona branch it will also present guests with a stamped certificate every time a dry martini cocktail is ordered.

With the event in full swing, Javier San Basilio, recently appointed President of the Spanish Chamber, took the stage to thank both Meliá White House and Dry Martini Bar for kindly hosting this event as well as the members in attendance for their continuous support. After this, it was time for the prize draw, where two lucky winners went home with a cocktail-making workshop at Dry Martini Bar to learn how to reproduce at home the cocktails they were enjoying at the bar.
